The futsal club of Penya Blaugrana de Montmeló (Federació Vallès) has once again organised its eagerly awaited futsal marathons and has done so with great success in terms of participation and attendance. In collaboration with Montmeló Town Council and Penya Blaugrana de Montmeló itself, the Pau Casals School Pavilion was once again filled with hours and hours of men’s and women’s futsal. The president of the Federació de Penyes del Vallès and of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes, Antoni Guil, was also involved in organising the tournaments.
The president of PB Montmeló’s futsal club, Miquel Tintó, highlighted the excitement, the high competitive level and the excellent atmosphere experienced at both events. In addition, the pavilion stands recorded a strong turnout, even during the night-time hours of competition, a fact that consolidates the popularity of these tournaments in the municipality of Montmeló, especially among young people.
12-Hour women’s futsal tournament
The first tournament held was the 11th edition of the Women’s 12-Hour Futsal Tournament. Participation in the competition increased to a total of seven teams, which were divided into two groups to play a round-robin stage followed by the semi-finals and final. The competition began at 10:00 a.m. and ended at around 10:30 p.m., completing more than 12 hours of women’s futsal. In addition to the prizes for the champions (El Masnou) and runners-up (Les Increïbles), PB Montmeló also awarded prizes to the best player and the best goalkeeper. This edition also stood out for the participation of one team from Deltebre and another from Riudellots de la Selva, showing the great popularity the tournament has gained.
24-Hour men’s futsal tournament
One week later, the 10th Men’s 24-Hour Futsal Tournament took over. On this occasion, a total of eight teams took part, playing non-stop from 4:00 p.m. on Saturday until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. The format consisted of an initial round-robin stage, with all teams playing against each other, followed by the semi-finals and the final. The No OPP Store team retained its title, with Los Bolivianos finishing as runners-up. Once again, the level was very high in every match, with players coming from football clubs and other competitions. As in the women’s edition, PB Montmeló highlighted the great atmosphere throughout the day, and is already looking ahead to next summer’s editions.
