From 10 to 12 July, Penya Barcelonista Lleó de Dues Cues (FCB World Federation) held its traditional Summer Gathering, which brings the season to a close in the company of its members. In this 19th edition of the event, the Czech club brought together 80 Barça supporters of all ages in the town of Žabčice, in the south of the country. There, they enjoyed a weekend of shared blaugrana spirit which, in addition to the various scheduled activities, marked the beginning of a new chapter for PB Lleó de Dues Cues.
Change in the presidency
The gathering began on Friday afternoon, when the first attendees were already able to spend time together, but the main day of the event was Saturday. In the morning, with all the supporters present, PB Lleó de Dues Cues held a particularly significant assembly, as it had to decide on the penya’s new president. First, outgoing president Pavel Misař gave a very positive assessment of his four years at the head of the club, which has continued to grow and now has 366 members, the highest figure in its history.
The process then moved on to choosing the new president. Initially, the lack of candidates created a degree of uncertainty, but in the end, it was a former president of the penya, Tomáš Škurek, who agreed to take on the presidency once again. With the handover made official, to warm applause from those present, PB Lleó de Dues Cues begins a new chapter as it prepares to celebrate the 15th anniversary of its foundation. During the assembly, the penya also presented commemorative coins to members with 10 years of seniority and welcomed its new members.
Sport takes centre stage
During the second part of the day, the traditional football match between the members of PB Lleó de Dues Cues was played: the Tomás Sebrala Memorial, which once again stood out for its excitement and friendly atmosphere. In addition to the winner’s trophy, individual awards were given for best player, best goalkeeper and match referee. A raffle was also held, with prizes including a shirt signed by Tomas Satoranský, a Jan Veselý shirt and, most notably, a framed shirt signed by the Barça players, donated by Matěj Bradáč. The penya also gave a commemorative gift to everyone who attended the gathering.
During the final part of the day, attendees took part in a quiz featuring curiosities about the club and Barça, and also watched several sporting events together. The women’s Wimbledon final, contested by two Czech tennis players, as well as the World Cup matches England-Norway and Argentina-Switzerland, captured the full attention of the supporters. On Sunday morning, after sharing breakfast together, the members of PB Lleó de Dues Cues brought to a close a gathering full of family atmosphere and blaugrana passion.
