Salva Torres, vice-president of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes, presented last Sunday his book ‘Autocar 46, Destí Wembley‘, an autobiographical account of the expedition of a group of FC Barcelona supporters to the European Champion Clubs’ Cup final against Sampdoria. Last 20 May was the 30th anniversary of this historic event. Coinciding with the commemoration, Salva Torres has recovered and narrated the experiences of the trip that the protagonists themselves wrote down at the moment.
At the presentation of the book, celebrated at the Confederation’s site and presented by Salva Torres and journalist Frederic Porta, the most intense moments of the Wembley final were reviewed on video. Torres said that “the final has been explained from the perspective of the players, the club, the protagonists or famous personalities, but I have chosen to remember the experience of the Barcelona fans, supporters, members or supporters’ club members, who made a long journey, many by coach, to see the final on the pitch”. The title of the book refers to the number of the coach in which Salva Torres and his group travelled.
This event was attended by numerous presidents of various territorial federations, who earlier in the morning attended the Plenary of the Consell de Penyes, celebrated at the same centre. The presentation of the book was also attended by a large representation of supporters of the Federació de les Terres de l’Ebre. Rafa Zuviría, a former FC Barcelona player and member of the Agrupació Barça Jugadors, was also present in a personal role.
