Once again, Aficiones Unidas, an organisation that brings together 36 federations of penyes of Spanish football clubs, closed the season with the celebration of its National Congress of Supporters’ Clubs. The event, which reached its 19th edition, took place last weekend in the city of Cartagena and brought together around 900 fans from more than 30 Spanish teams. On behalf of the FC Barcelona supporters’ clubs, representatives of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes, as well as members of the federations of supporters’ clubs from Murcia, Alicante and Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla, as well as others from Catalonia, attended.
Congress with Tebas in the spotlight
After the official reception at the Cartagena City Hall and the subsequent fraternity dinner on Friday, the main day of the XIX Congress of Supporters’ Clubs of Aficiones Unidas took place on Saturday. With around 900 supporters’ clubs’ members present, the event was headed by the president of Aficiones Unidas, Jorge Guerrero, and was also attended by a prominent representation from La Liga led by its president, Javier Tebas.
Amongst other issues, the agreement for affordable ticket quotas for visiting fans in the 1st division, signed by 14 clubs, was presented. This initiative was promoted by Aficiones Unidas in the interests of the fans. The joint fight against racism in Spanish football was also highlighted. In addition, awards were presented to the supporters’ federations of clubs that were champions and promoted this season, and the Confederació Mundial de Penyes was one of the winners.
On Sunday, all the attendees met at the Cartagonova Stadium, where they had a visit and the traditional exchange of gifts with the Federation of Cartagena Supporters’ Clubs, the event organiser. The closing of the congress took place in a celebration hall, where the attendees were invited to the next National Congress of Supporters’ Clubs, which will take place in Cadiz next year.
