Madness among penyes for the second Women’s Champions League

Penyes travelled to Eindhoven on a massive scale, and those who could not attend organised giant screens and viewings all over the world.

It happened in 2019 in Budapest; restrictions due to the pandemic did not allow it in 2021; it happened again in Turin in 2022; and last Saturday history repeated itself in Eindhoven. A new Barça Women’s European final and a massive new reaction from the penyes movement. In Eindhoven, they were able to celebrate live the long-awaited second Champions League of the blaugrana team; in the rest of the world, they organised themselves to watch the match together, as on the big occasions.

Blaugrana tide in Eindhoven

Among the thousands of Barcelona fans who travelled to the Dutch city, the supporters’ clubs played an important role. With the support of the different territorial federations and the Confederació Mundial de Penyes, blaugrana supporters’ clubs from all over Europe were present in the stands of the Philips Stadion, with the young supporters playing a leading role.

In the hours leading up to the match, penyes also took centre stage. Organisations such as the PB Almogàvers, among others, together with the group “Tot pel Femení”, arranged a meeting for all the Barça supporters with the aim of warming up, giving their support to the players and going to the stadium together. Once again, the supporters’ clubs were in the driving seat for a great trip.

Screenings all over the world

The supporters’ clubs that could not be present in Eindhoven also mobilised massively for the Women’s Champions League final. In some places, for example, the supporters’ clubs coordinated the installation of giant screens so that all FC Barcelona fans could watch the match in communion. In other cases, they gathered many of their members at their headquarters to watch the final in the best possible atmosphere. Thanks to this, from Washington to Mumbai, FC Barcelona’s second Women’s Champions League title was celebrated around the world.
