The moments leading up to last Monday’s match between Barça and Girona showed, once again, the great harmony and respect that exists between the crowds of both teams; and between their supporters’ clubs in particular. A few hours before kick-off, the World Confederation of FC Barcelona Supporters’ Clubs received a delegation from supporters’ clubs movement at its headquarters, opposite the Spotify Camp Nou, which was led by the president of the Federació de Penyes del Girona FC, Cristóbal Sánchez.
Antoni Guil, president of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes, was in charge of welcoming the delegation and presented a framed silkscreen to Cristóbal Sánchez as a souvenir of the meeting. In addition to Guil, also present were Quim Vall-llosera, president of the Federació de Penyes Barcelonistes del Gironès, Selva, Garrotxa i Pla de l’Estany; Ramón Fibla, president of the Federació de Penyes Barcelonistes de les Terres de l’Ebre, accompanied by Siscu Pinyol, delegate of the Advisory Council in this territory; Juan Carrión, president of the Federación de Peñas Barcelonistas de Murcia; and Miquel Gomis, president of the Federació de Penyes Barcelonistes de València i la Marina Alta.
Good understanding, also in Girona
The good understanding between the supporters’ clubs of Barça and Girona was already reflected on the occasion of the first-round match between the two teams, this time with Girona as the venue. There, the Federació de Penyes del Girona FC, the Federació de Penyes Barcelonistes del Gironès, Selva, Pla de l’Estany i Garrotxa, and the Federació de Penyes Barcelonistes de l’Empordà i Catalunya Nord organised the colloquium “Supporters and modern football”.
The talk had as speakers various names in journalism and culture, who were joined by Jorge Guerrero, president of Aficiones Unidas. Both the World Confederation of FC Barcelona Supporters’ Clubs and the Federació de Penyes del Girona FC belong to this organisation, which brings together 36 federations of supporters’ clubs from 1st and 2nd division clubs and promotes respect and harmony between all of them. These values continue to be demonstrated by culers and Girona fans every time their teams face each other.
