Solidarity actions by PB Monells, PB Sant Cugat and PB Thessaloniki

PB Monells held a party with 2,000 people to raise money for the fight against cancer, while PB Sant Cugat and PB Thessaloniki organised penalty and free-kick tournaments, also for charity.

Once again, the FC Barcelona supporters’ clubs have shown their most charitable side over the last few days by organising events in different parts of the world. The initiatives have been of a recreational and sporting nature but have benefited charities and medical research organisations.

Party by PB Monells

Last Saturday, the Penya Blaugrana Monells (Federació Empordà i Catalunya Nord) organised a charity party in Corçà to raise funds against cancer and in memory of Pitu, one of its members. This event, which was attended by 2,000 people and included activities for all ages, was organised together with the initiatives “Amics d’en Pitu” and “Amics de l’Aina”. The proceeds will go entirely to the Institute of Biomedical Research of Girona and the Haematology Service of the Catalan Institute of Oncology, which are part of the Josep Trueta Hospital.

The involvement of the PB Monells with the “Amics d’en Pitu” and “Amics de l’Aina” initiatives has been manifested in numerous actions recently. In addition, the club stood out for its mobilisation to help the Ukrainian population when the conflict broke out, and for its enormous commitment to vulnerable people during the most complicated period of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Solidarity free-kicks in Sant Cugat and Thessaloniki

On the other hand, the Penya Blaugrana Sant Cugat (Federació Vallès) took part in the action “Marca-li un gol a l’Alzheimer” (Score a goal for Alzheimer’s) at its football pitch, in Can Magí. The initiative, promoted by the Alzheimer’s Family Association of Vallès Occidental, consisted of a penalty shoot-out tournament against the goalkeepers of the penyes’ grassroots football teams. All participants were entered into a draw for a FC Barcelona shirt. The nearly 450 euros raised were donated to the Alzheimer’s Family Association of Vallès Occidental.

Along the same lines, the Penya del Barça Thessaloniki (FCB World Federation) collaborated with supporters’ clubs from other teams in their Greek town to organise a free-kick tournament, also with charitable overtones. The competition, divided into two categories for adults and under-16s, was open to the entire population and was a success in terms of participation. Part of the proceeds of this action was donated to the Red Cross of this territory, thus PB Thessaloniki reinforced its social commitment.
