In a further sign of solidarity and social commitment with its territory, the Federation of Penyes Barcelonistes de Lleida Sud i la Franja, chaired by Claudi Bosch, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Association of Blood Donors of Segrià. The agreement, which encourages blood donation in this Catalan region, takes on special relevance at a time when blood reserves are going through a delicate moment.
The Federació de Penyes de Lleida Sud i la Franja also wants to highlight the importance of solidarity in society today, promoting values such as generosity and charity, which are inherent in blood donation. Both the blaugrana entity and the Association of Blood Donors of Segrià also want to contribute in this way to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, especially to SDG 3 (health and well-being), 16 (peace, justice, and strong institutions) and 17 (partnerships to achieve the goals). This action also consolidates themselves as positive agents of change throughout the region.
A commitment troughout the territory
Blood donation is one of the actions currently promoted by the CSR subcommittee of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes, and it has always been part of the spirit of solidarity of the whole movement of supporters’ clubs. One of the most active entities in this field is the PB Ripollet (Federació Vallès), chaired by Joan Giménez, which for more than 30 years has coordinated blood and plasma donations in its town with the Blood and Tissue Bank of Catalonia. In total, they organize between 10 and 12 annual donation campaigns.
Another penya especially committed to blood donation is the PB Solsona i Comarca (Federació Ponent Nord), which, in collaboration with Blood Donors of Solsonès, has for the last five years involved the residents of their town in a campaign that has a great acceptance every summer. Another very recent example is that of PB La Garriga (Fed. Vallès), which this Wednesday has organized a blood and plasma donation, in alliance with the Blood and Tissue Bank. The action is part of the events celebrating the 40th anniversary of the penya.
