At this time of year, sports tournaments multiply among Barça penyes, and two of them have combined them with the spirit of solidarity that characterizes this movement. They are Penya Barça Barberà (Federació Vallès), which organized the 1st Sergio Delgado Cup, and Peña Blaugrana Barçávila (Federación Castilla y León), which held the 3rd edition of its Solidarity Tournament. Both registered a great level of participation and achieved their charitable goal.
1st Sergio Delgado Cup, in support of AFANOC
Penya Barça Barberà, specifically its futsal section, recently organized the 1st edition of the Sergio Delgado Cup, an initiative created as a tribute to a player from the penya’s first team who died of cancer nearly a year ago. The event took place at the Elisa Badia Pavilion in Barberà del Vallès, which welcomed a very good turnout to share such a special occasion. The tournament proceeds and donations amounted to a total of €620, which will be donated in full to the AFANOC Association, which works with children and young people with cancer.
The 1st Sergio Delgado Cup began with a match between PB Barberà senior team and Unió 10 Terrassa and continued with an U-12 match between the teams Favelas Jr. and Sant Quirze. Trophies were awarded to the winning teams, but above all, respect and fair play among all participants stood out. Several gifts were also raffled among those attending. It was a very moving day, through which PB Barberà sought to keep its player’s legacy alive and turn it into support for those suffering from the same illness. The penya plans to make the Sergio Delgado Cup an annual event from now on.

PB Barçávila’s Solidarity Tournament grows in its 3rd edition
As for PB Barçávila, it held a 3rd edition of its Solidarity Tournament that represents significant growth for the initiative and consolidates it as a highly relevant event in its city. This year, the Castile and León penya brought together a total of 20 teams in the U-10 and U-12 categories, with the participation of the clubs Real Ávila, Zona Norte, Ávila Atlético, Colegios Diocesanos, Linko Garbantel, El Barraco and El Hoyo de Pinares. This growth led to the tournament being extended to two days. The venue was the Sancti Spiritu football pitches in Ávila.
Once again, PB Barçávila focused this tournament on solidarity, and the result was a complete success, as more than 400 kg of food were collected and will be donated to the Food Bank of Ávila. In this way, the penya turns this competition into a celebration in which sporting values and social awareness prevail, beyond the winners of the tournament. The club had the collaboration of Ávila City Council and numerous local organizations and businesses.
