The 14th Children’s Sports Festival, organized by Penya Blaugrana Sant Cugat (Federació Penyes del Vallès), was once again a great success, bringing together more than 250 participants from 11 schools in Sant Cugat for a full day at the Can Magí municipal pitch. The event, held with the collaboration of Sant Cugat City Council, consisted of a seven-a-side football tournament in four different categories according to school year groups (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th year of primary school), with a total of 24 mixed teams taking part.
The event was attended by Josep Maria Félez, president of PB Sant Cugat; Josep Maria Vallès, mayor of Sant Cugat; Núria Escamilla, councillor for Sports and Culture at Sant Cugat City Council; Eloi Rovira, advisor to the City Council’s Sports department; Francesc Duch, city councillor; and Frederic Brasó, board member of Òmnium Sant Cugat. They were responsible for presenting the trophies to the winners, as well as a commemorative medal to each and every participant in the 14th Children’s Sports Festival.
A day to convey values through sport
This initiative by PB Sant Cugat is aimed at primary school pupils, with the goal of promoting sport in a fun and participatory environment. Beyond the competition and the winners, the gathering stands out for the educational values it conveys, such as respect, teamwork and sportsmanship. It also helps foster coexistence among different schools in Sant Cugat and strengthens the bonds between all participants.
The day also included prize draws for various gifts related to FC Barcelona and PB Sant Cugat. In this way, the penya also highlights its role as an ambassador for Barça support in its local community.
