Heartfelt tribute from PB Alt Empordà to Quim Torrent

The traditional social lunch of the penya of the Federació Empordà i Catalunya Nord included an emotional tribute to one of the penya’s founders and its vice-president for more than 40 years.

Penya Blaugrana Alt Empordà (Federació Empordà i Catalunya Nord) paid a heartfelt tribute to Quim Torrent, one of the founders of the penya in 1982 and vice-president of the organisation for more than 40 years. This tribute to Torrent, who passed away at the end of 2025, took place during the traditional end-of-season social lunch of the Empordà-based penya, which brought together more than 160 people near Cantallops. In addition to a large number of supporters from PB Alt Empordà, members of PB L’Escala, PB Pals, PB La Bisbal, PB Banyoles, PB Olot and PB Montserrat Monistrol also attended.

The event was attended by Josep Puigbert, president of PB Alt Empordà; Joan Santos, one of the founders of the penya; Anton Parera, former general manager of FC Barcelona; Jordi Pueyo, a member of the Club’s social area; and Pere Gratacós, a member of the Agrupació Barça Jugadors. They all praised the figure of Quim Torrent in the presence of his widow and sons, who received a bouquet of flowers and a commemorative gift.

A deeply involved and much-loved figure

Quim Torrent will be remembered as a key figure for PB Alt Empordà. Thanks to his initiative, the penya has historically had a bus to travel from Figueres to Camp Nou, as well as organised trips to away matches. Torrent was also connected to the Club itself as a member of the social area under the presidency of Josep Lluís Núñez. His career also stands out for his 28 years as mayor of Sant Climent Sescebes, as well as for his involvement in the Consell Comarcal de l’Empordà.

During the tribute, videos were shown to remember Quim Torrent’s legacy: one produced by the penya and another by the family. The current president of FC Barcelona, Rafa Yuste, also sent a video message. All this underlines the importance Torrent had acquired not only for PB Alt Empordà, but across the whole comarca of l’Empordà, where he was a highly valued and much-loved man.

Season review

In addition to the tribute, PB Alt Empordà’s social lunch also served to review a season of great Barça successes. The organisation, which stands out for its strong loyalty to the first team both at home matches and on away trips, showed images recalling the most memorable moments of the 2025-26 season. Gifts were also raffled among those attending. A brass band performance brought a festive close to a day full of emotion for everyone present.
