For the Penya Blaugrana San Diego (FCB World Federation), the Clásicos between Barça and Real Madrid in La Liga are not only two of the great moments of each season on a sporting level, but they also have a very important solidarity role. And the one played a month ago was no exception. In this case, PB San Diego mobilized all its members to raise funds for the Autism Tree Foundation, which helps families in the San Diego region who live with autism. The initiative was a success.
On the day of the match, each member of the club contributed an item related to Barça or the penya in a raffle. The result: a total of $2,000 raised, which PB San Diego donated to Autism Tree. A spokesperson for the foundation also attended the meeting with the members of the supporters’ club on the day of the Clásico to explain their work and raise awareness of the treatment of autism. In this action, the penya also had the collaboration of the premises where it meets and of some sponsors.
A boost to Autism Tree’s projects
Led by its president, Rubén Aguilera, a delegation of the PB San Diego recently visited the Autism Tree headquarters to present the check with the 2,000 dollars collected. It was a very emotional and thankful meeting on behalf of the foundation, which recognized the great involvement of all the members of the supporters’ club. This donation will be used for 20 programs created by Autism Tree that seek to involve the community of families with children with autism in a series of specific activities. The goal is for children with autism to develop more social confidence and skills in language and communication.
