Although the final result was not the desired one, FC Barcelona’s trip to Milan once again highlighted the power of the supporters’ club movement in dyeing the stands of European stadiums red and blue. In the Lombardy capital, more than 500 supporters traveled from different territories to cheer on the team on the third matchday of the Champions League group stage: Inter-Barça.
Pre-match meeting by PB Lombarda
Part of the travelling supporters’ group began to warm up for the match at the meeting organized by the host supporters’ club, Penya Lombarda FC Barcelona. The FCB World Federation entity summoned supporters’ club members and culers in general in a place located in the historic center of Milan, very close to the Duomo.
There, the Italian supporters’ clubs stood out (PB Turin, PB Napoli, PB Roma and the aforementioned PB Lombarda), but there were also members of PB Lodz (Fed. Mundo), PB Soses and PB Puigvert (Fed. Lleida Sud), among others. Josep-Ignasi Macià, member of the FC Barcelona Board of Directors, and Claudi Bosch, member of the Penyes Council and president of Federació Lleida Sud, were also present at the meeting.
Large presence in the stands
The supporters’ clubs’ encouragement was later transferred to the stands of the Giuseppe Meazza stadium. The aforementioned organizations were joined by many others, with a large presence of those from the FCB World Federation: Fan Club Barça Polska, PB Poznan, PB Warsaw, PB Alts Tatras, PB Thessaloniki, PB Stuttgart, PB Ticino or PB Tel Aviv. PB BizkaBarça (Fed. Euskadi), PB Móstoles (Fed. Madrid), PB Almogàvers (Fed. Barcelonès Oest), PB Mataró (Fed. Maresme) and PB La Jonquera (Fed. Empordà i Catalunya Nord) were also there, among many others.
