The Moroccan supporters’ club Gent Blaugrana de Meknès (World Federation) recently organized the 5th edition of the Meknès Trophy, a futsal competition that usually coincides with the anniversary of the inauguration of Camp Nou. The tournament, played in a sports club in the town of Meknès, was attended by 10 teams, including five other Moroccan Barcelona supporters’ clubs: Gent Blaugrana d’Anfa, Penya Blaugrana Rabat Atlantic, Penya Barcelonista de Kenitra, Penya Futbol Club Barcelona de Tetuan and Penya Barcelonista de Laayoune. This was a clear demonstration of the union and passion for football among the collective of supporter’s clubs in the North African country.
Among the other participants, the presence of the Peña Madridista de Casablanca, with which the Gent Blaugrana de Meknès maintains a close bond of friendship and harmony despite the rivalry between the two teams, standed out. Veteran teams from Moroccan and French clubs such as Moghreb Tetouan, Wydad Casablanca, FC Bastia and Olympique Nimes also competed. Fair play on the pitch and a good atmosphere off it were the dominant features of the tournament.
