Last Monday, the auditorium of the Penya Blaugrana Foment Martinenc was so crowded on the occasion of the talk that the blaugrana entity organized to explain the solidarity trip to Gambia in August 2022. The expedition to the African country was organized by the Fundació Esport Solidari Internacional (ESI), a non-profit organization directed by Josep Maldonado, president of the PB Coma-ruga 95, and repeated the success of other trips in previous years.
The talk reviewed the best moments of the trip, in which the PB Foment Martinenc was represented by its president, Àngel Pérez. He was joined by Jordi Monturiol, president of the PB La Guineu, and Lluis Yuste, member of the PB Badia del Vallès and whose alter ego is the solidarity clown “Doctor Sapastre”. All of them visited the poorest areas of the country for a week and, among other things, distributed blaugrana materials such as t-shirts, balls, caps and pens among the youngest children. They also handed out gifts provided by other entities and clubs, such as Gimnástica Segoviana, with whom the PB Foment Martinenc has a close relationship.
The Fandema project explained by a young man from Gambia
One of the most special moments of the event came with the intervention of Malang Sambou, a young native of Gambia who, together with his wife, has created the Fandema project in his country. This is a vocational and occupational training center for women between 18 and 65 years of age, especially those who have never attended school or dropped out very early and want to improve their quality of life.
This trip is in addition to others carried out by PB Foment Martinenc together with Fundació ESI in recent years. Recently, and with the collaboration of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes, the organization also visited Burkina Faso with the same spirit of solidarity and blaugrana passion.
