Coinciding with the final weeks of the season, two supporters’ clubs have recently celebrated their respective anniversaries. They are the Penya Blaugrana de Gironella, which commemorates 25 years of history, and the Penya Barcelonista de Puigverd de Lleida, which has now reached 22 years since its creation.
A quarter of a century for PB Gironella
Penya Blaugrana Gironella (Federació de Penyes del Bages, Berguedà i Cerdanya) recently celebrated its 25th anniversary at an event that brought together around one hundred supporters. In addition to members of the organising penya itself, another 10 penyes from the same federation were represented. The event was attended by Antoni Valverde, president of the Federació de Penyes del Bages, Berguedà i Cerdanya; Josep Rial, president of PB Gironella; Ignasi Montagut, member of the Club’s Social Commission; Paco Martínez, member of the Agrupació Barça Jugadors; David Font, mayor of Gironella; and Miquel Serra, sports councillor.
PB Gironella’s 25th anniversary began with the traditional “sardana” dance, performed by a group of students from the Puig-reig Municipal Music School, and continued with a celebratory lunch. During the event, the tribute to the founding members of the penya stood out, as did the cutting of the commemorative cake by the youngest club members. A souvenir was also presented to all the penyes attending the celebration.
A major celebration in Puigverd de Lleida
As for Penya Barcelonista Puigverd de Lleida (Federation of Penyes Lleida Sud and La Franja), it commemorated its 22nd anniversary with a major celebration attended by 125 people. Among them were Claudi Bosch, president of PB Puigverd de Lleida and of the Federació Lleida Sud i La Franja; Tente Sánchez and Joan Ramon Puig Solsona, members of the Agrupació Barça Jugadors; Úrsula Barrufet, mayor of Puigverd de Lleida; and Mossèn Lucas, the parish priest of the municipality.
The venue for the celebration was the Llar de Puigverd de Lleida, which once again was filled with blaugrana colours. The event was held with the collaboration of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes. There was an exchange of gifts between the participating organisations, a raffle of Barça-themed gifts for all attendees and the cutting of the commemorative cake for PB Puigverd de Lleida 22nd anniversary. It was a festive day marked by strong Barça fellowship.
