Sister Lucía Caram shares her experiences in the PB Torrelameu

Nearly a hundred people attended the conference in which she recounted her experiences in the territories affected by the war in Ukraine

The Penya Barcelonista Torrelameu (Federació Ponent Nord) hosted last Friday the conference ‘Construir la pau en temps de crisi’ (Building peace in times of crisis), by Sister Lucía Caram. This penya had already hosted the conference ‘Invulnerables’ about the project to eradicate child poverty, and on this occasion was able to learn more about the activist’s experience in Ukraine. The event was attended by around a hundred people, including the president of the PB Torrelameu, Carles Puig, as well as several members of the Torrelameu Town Council, led by its mayor, Carles Comes.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion in Ukraine, Sister Lucía Caram has experienced first-hand the repercussions that this conflict has caused in the Ukrainian population, and she wanted to explain them to the conference attendees. In her constant trips to the most affected territories, the activist is helping with field hospitals and has also managed to send more than 140 ambulances. Sister Lucia has helped evacuate more than 4,000 people from the most dangerous areas and continues to work for peace and solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

A relationship based on values of solidarity

The Confederació Mundial de Penyes, and the penyes movement in general, have a solid and lasting relationship with Sister Lucia Caram, forged by the values of solidarity that define the FC Barcelona supporters’ club collective. The ‘Invulnerables’ conference is already approaching 140 performances in penyes throughout the country, and those that have not already hosted it can request it by contacting the Confederació. In addition, the blaugrana organization continues to support and disseminate the solidarity actions that Sister Lucía carries out throughout the year in favour of the most disadvantaged population.
