Success at the card tournaments by PB Puigverd de Lleida and PB Almogàvers Empordà

The penya from Lleida brought together 90 pairs from across Catalonia, while the Empordà blaugrana entity drew close to 200 people for a very festive day

Two penyes have recently held their “botifarra” card tournaments, with an excellent turnout in both cases. They are the Penya Barcelonista Puigverd de Lleida (Federació Lleida Sud i La Franja), which staged the 12th edition of its tournament, and the Penya Blaugrana Almogàvers Empordà (Federació Empordà i Catalunya Nord), which is consolidating its championship with its 3rd edition.

90 pairs at the PB Puigverd de Lleida tournament

The 12th Botifarra Championship organized by PB Puigverd de Lleida once again filled the Llar de Puigverd, with a total of 90 participating pairs. The event, which is now a benchmark for fans of this card game, welcomed players not only from the Lleida area, but also from Tarragona, Girona and Barcelona, and even from Andorra. Everyone enjoyed a morning full of excitement and a great atmosphere.

The event was attended by Claudi Bosch, president of PB Puigverd de Lleida and of the Federació de Penyes de Lleida Sud i la Franja, and Manuela Sánchez, Councillor for Culture at the Puigverd de Lleida City Council. Both of them presented the awards to the top-ranked pairs. The organizers celebrated the day’s success and are already looking ahead to next year’s tournament.

PB Almogàvers Empordà gathers around 200 people

As for PB Almogàvers Empordà, it once again took advantage of the Fires i Festes de la Santa Creu celebrations to hold its 3rd Botifarra Championship. The activity brought around 200 people together in Plaça del Gra in Figueres, with a total of 44 participating pairs, thus boosting last year’s turnout and cementing the tournament’s success. As always, the day was marked by the game’s festive spirit and by the excitement throughout the matches.

The event, organized entirely by PB Almogàvers Empordà, received support from several Empordà companies, which helped sponsor the prizes and provide logistical backing for the 3rd Botifarra Championship. The penya awarded prizes to the top three pairs, as well as special recognitions for the best pair made up of penya members, the best local pair, the best women’s pair, and the best under-35 pair.
