Supporters’ clubs collaborate in the charity match between Barça and Manchester City

More than 90,000 people filled the Camp Nou for the charity match sponsored by Juan Carlos Unzué

Barça and City faced each other for charity, the research of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), on Wednesday, August 24 at the Spotify Camp Nou. Proceeds from the match will go to the Luzon Foundation for ALS research. Since being diagnosed with ALS, the former player and coach has been doing a great job of spreading awareness about the situation of people suffering from this disease.  Unzué exclaimed “we want to continue living and enjoying life”, an appeal for more support to research and combat ALS.

In addition, the duel has also been especially emotional for the reunion between Xavi Hernandez and Pep Guardiola. It was the first time that they have faced each other as rivals in the dugouts, although the images they have left have been of friendship and fraternity.

Solidarity

The supporters’ clubs were present at the stadium to support and collaborate in this cause, showing once again their most supportive side. As an example of this, the PB Cambrils, of the Federació Tarragona Nord, wore a banner in support of the initiative, also present were penyes from different federations, including the Federació del Gironès, la Selva, la Garrotxa i Pla de l’Estany, the Federació de l’ Empordà i Catalunya Nord and the Federació de Terres de L’Ebre. Likewise, as an example, there were also present peñas from the rest of Spain and the world, such as the Peña Barcelonista de Villa del Río (Córdoba) and the Penya Blaugrana de Lodz (Poland).

Once again it has been shown that we are “més que un club”
