The Meeting of Supporters’ Clubs – Federacions Països Catalans gathers 400 members of penyes

20 territorial Federations have been present at the event, where Antoni Guil has explained the current situation of the Confederation and has also presented the Digital Penyista Card, among other projects.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has lived a day full of brotherhood and blaugrana passion on the occasion of the Meeting of Supporters Clubs – Federacions Països Catalans, organized by the World Confederation of Supporters Clubs. The event brought together 400 supporters’ clubs members, representing nearly 200 supporters clubs belonging to 20 different territorial Federations. In addition to almost all the Federations of Catalonia, Valencia and the Balearic Islands, members of supporters clubs from the Federations of Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha and FCB World also attended.

The event was attended by Antoni Guil, president of the World Confederation of Supporters Clubs, and most of the members of the Council of Supporters’ Clubs. Also in attendance were the mayor of Montmeló, Pere Rodríguez, the director of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Josep Lluís Santamaria, and the former candidate for the presidency of FC Barcelona, Lluís Fernández Alà.

A day full of activity

The event began with a group visit to the facilities of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where the members of the supporters’ association were able to get to know some of its spaces up close. Afterwards, a brotherhood lunch was held with all the attendees at the Can Guitet esplanade, in the vicinity of the circuit. The lunch was marked by a good atmosphere and also by an emotional feeling of reunion, since this was one of the first inter-territorial meetings of supporters clubs since the Covid-19 pandemic made this type of event impossible.

Afterwards, the attendants to the Meeting of Supporters’ Clubs – Federacions Països Catalans have moved again to the facilities of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to celebrate an Assembly of Supporters’ Clubs. The session began with a talk by Salva Torres, vice-president of the Confederation, who reviewed the history of the supporters’ clubs movement. Then, the three Working Committees of the entity (Economic and Marketing, Sociocultural and Institutional) explained their respective news and also the projects that are underway.

Digital Penyista Card and Club del Penyista

Among the projects presented at the assembly, the Digital Penyista Card of the World Confederation of Supporters’ Clubs, which will be launched in the coming days, stands out. This card, linked to the Digital Identity presented a year ago, will allow supporters to access the Club del Peñista, a portal where they can find discounts and advantages of all kinds. In this way, the Confederation seeks to continue offering benefits and added value to the Federations, supporters’ clubs and supporters’ clubs it brings together around the world.

Situation with FC Barcelona

The president of the World Confederation of Supporters’ Clubs, Antoni Guil, led the second part of the Assembly to address the current situation of the organization. Guil explained the succession of events leading up to the current relationship with the Club, highlighting the non-compliance with the agreement by the current Board of Directors and the reiterated desire for dialogue on the part of the World Confederation of Supporters’ Clubs. A dialogue to which the president of the Confederation has again appealed.

Antoni Guil thanked the attendees for their attendance, their support and their valuable work for Barcelona, and asked them for the maximum unity to continue working for the continuity of the supporters’ clubs movement, whose presence in the territory contributes to make our Club even greater. The assembly ended with a session of doubts and queries from the supporters club members in attendance.

Viewing of FCB Women

The meeting ended with a joint viewing of the women’s Champions League semi-final match between Wolfsburg and FC Barcelona.
