The PB “Aquest any sí” brings the “Llegendaris” event to the Biure de Gaià Festival

Former Barça players Tente Sánchez and Rafael Zuviría, together with journalist Frederic Porta, looked back on the 1979 European Cup Winners’ Cup final in Basel

The local festival of the small village of Biure de Gaià (Tarragona) featured a very special event this year thanks to the local FC Barcelona supporters’ club: the Penya Blaugrana “Aquest any sí” de Les Piles (Federació Tarragona Nord). The event, “Llegendaris”, organised by the Confederació Mundial de Penyes, filled the village hall to capacity, welcoming more than seventy Barça fans eager to learn more about historic moments in FC Barcelona’s history.

First-hand accounts of Barça’s history

As always, the event was hosted by the vice president of the Confederació, Salva Torres, and presented by Aksana Vayevoda. On this occasion, it featured former players Tente Sánchez and Rafael Zuviría, along with journalist and author Frederic Porta and Xavier Gamper, grandson of the Club’s founder. The event began with the presentation of books by Salva Torres and Frederic Porta, which bring together a large number of facts and details about FC Barcelona’s history. Alongside Xavier Gamper, they also promoted the “Barça i Catalunya” lecture series, and they took centre stage in the first part of the event.

The focus then shifted to the 1979 European Cup Winners’ Cup final in Basel, with first-hand accounts from two of its protagonists, Sánchez and Zuviría. Their personal experiences and anecdotes delighted those in attendance, who also took part by asking questions. In addition to the president of PB “Aquest any sí” de Les Piles, Jordi Castells, the event was attended by the mayor of Les Piles, Magí Balcells; the mayor of Sarral, Jaume Fornés; and members of PB Sarral, PB Santa Coloma de Queralt, PB Casal “Francesc Serra” (Tarragona) and PB La Safor. It was a smaller-than-usual edition of “Llegendaris”, but it still managed to surprise and satisfy the entire audience.
