The Penya Barcelonista de Ciutadella (Federació de Penyes Barcelonistas de les Illes Balears) commemorated its 41st anniversary with a big party held last Saturday at the Club Nàutic in the Menorcan town. The event brought together more than 60 guests and was led by the president of the PB Ciutadella, Carles Gener, along with members of its board of directors. This year’s guests of honour were Nacho Solozábal, ex-player of the FC Barcelona basketball team, and David Bernabéu, journalist of the newspaper Sport, who were joined by Juanjo Brau, ex-physiotherapist of the club’s first football team. The president of the Federació de Penyes Barcelonistes de les Illes Balears, Óscar Escoda, and the president of the PB Ferreries, Joan Ignasi Truyol, also attended.
The celebration of the 41st anniversary of the PB Ciutadella began at the penya’s headquarters, where the president explained the history of the penya to the guests and offered them the book of honour to sign. Afterwards, the party moved to the Club Nàutic, where the speeches, the gala dinner and an interesting get-together with the three main protagonists of the evening took place. Solozábal reviewed the current complicated situation of the basketball section, Bernabéu gave his point of view on the transfer market and other issues, and Brau explained his time on the first team staff during the golden age of the 21st century. All of them interacted with the supporters present, who also participated in the raffle organized by the PB Ciutadella, with tickets for next season’s matches and merchandising.
