16th talk with American students on Barça and its supporters’ clubs

More than 70 young people attended the 16th edition of this colloquium, organised by the Confederació Mundial de Penyes and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra

More than 70 American university students filled the new headquarters of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes yesterday. The reason was the 16th edition of the talk that the blaugrana organization holds in collaboration with the Pompeu Fabra University’s Study Abroad programme. Specifically, it is an activity that forms part of the course “Global Marketing & Culture of FC Barcelona”, which deals with the key factors that have made Barça fans around the world much more than just fans of a team.

The talk was led by Vicenç Notari, treasurer of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes and a member of the Penyes Council. In chronological order, Notari explained to the students the most important events that accompanied the first years of FC Barcelona’s history – on a sporting, cultural, social, and political level in Catalonia – up to the present day.

The weight of the supporters’ clubs

As could not be otherwise, the supporters’ clubs played a special role during the 16th talk with American students. They not only discovered the origins of this movement, but also learned about the values that make it unique in today’s football universe. From a dimensional, organisational, territorial and multidisciplinary point of view, they were able to see the special strength that the Barcelona supporters’ clubs have today in any part of the world.

This was one of the most crowded talks since this initiative was launched in November 2014 by the PB Guineu and the PB Foment Martinenc. Once again, the students showed great interest in learning about the keys to the impact of Barcelona’s football all over the world.
