More than 91,000 people filled the Camp Nou yesterday to experience the qualification of the women’s first team for the semi-finals of the Champions League. And a large part of the blame lies with the FC Barcelona supporters’ clubs, who travelled en masse from all over the world so as not to miss out on such a special occasion. Thanks to the geographical proximity, the supporters’ clubs of the Catalan territorial federations were the most numerous, many of them with buses full of supporters who travelled all the way to Barcelona. Nevertheless, supporters’ clubs from the other Spanish Federations also attended, as well as from the World Federation. All of them were a roar and contributed to the record attendance at yesterday’s match at Camp Nou.
Beyond the yesterday’s event at the Camp Nou, the supporters’ club movement has been unconditionally supporting the Blaugrana women’s team for years. And also women’s sport in general. The 2019 Champions League final in Budapest was proof of this. And so it is every match at the Johan Cruyff Stadium or even on the road. Even when the team’s popularity was considerably lower than it is today, several supporters’ clubs came to the matches to support the players.
