To mark its 17th anniversary, the Penya Indobarça chapter Jogja once again organised a weekend full of activities for all the members of this large Indonesian supporters’ club. This year, the gathering took place at Sepanjang Beach, on the southern coast of the island of Java, and brought together 70 supporters from different chapters that Penya Indobarça has across the Southeast Asian country. In addition to the host chapter, Jogja, 13 other chapters were represented: Solo, Depok, Cikampek, Tegal, Jakarta, Indramayu, Karawang, Rembang, Medan, Palembang, Purwakarta, Semarang and Wonosobo.
The “17a Onada”
Over the course of two days, they all took part in a variety of social and recreational activities to celebrate PB Indobarça Jogja’s 17th anniversary: games, outings, prize draws and celebrations for the titles won by Barça this season. The beach became the main hub of the activity. PB Indobarça Jogja also handed out gifts to all attendees. With both young and old culers taking part, the gathering helped further strengthen the sense of blaugrana brotherhood among everyone present.
The PB Indobarça Jogja chose to name the gathering “La 17a Onada” (“The 17th Wave”), thus combining the Catalan roots of FC Barcelona with the distinctive waves of the Yogyakarta region, where this chapter of the supporters’ club was born. It also aimed to symbolise the dynamism of Penya Indobarça, which has built an ever-growing Barça community in Indonesia and continues to move forward and evolve constantly.
