The penyes movement in Galicia, headed by Federación de Peñas Barcelonistas Galegas, enjoyed a very complete weekend in its region. The visit of the first team to play its match against Celta de Vigo coincided with the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Peña Barcelonista Perla de Arousa, so the celebration was double.
On Friday afternoon, a “culé” representation was received at the City Council of Villagarcía de Arousa, locality of the PB Perla de Arousa. Present were Salvador Cerviño, president of the Federación de Peñas Barcelonistas Galegas; Nieves Loira, delegate of the Advisory Council in Galicia; Francisco Gutiérrez, president of the PB Perla de Arousa; and Julio Alberto Moreno, member of the Agrupació Barça Jugadors. Also in attendance was José Méndez, president of the Federación de Peñas Celtistas.
The PB Perla de Arousa’s 10th anniversary party was held afterwards, with more than 70 guests. In addition to the aforementioned names, Josep Ignasi Macià, member of the FC Barcelona Board, was present. In addiction, the FC Barcelona supporters’ clubs PB A Balastrera de Ribadeo, PB Porriño and PB Marín also participated, as well Celta supporters’ clubs Os Carcamáns da Illa de Arousa and Retrouxo from Villagarcía. During the event, the minute of silence in memory of the “Avi del Barça”,who passed away last week, and the reading of an emotional message sent by his son stood out.
Fraternity between “culés” and “celtiñas”
Once again, Barça and Celta penyes showed their great relationship. In addition to the presence of Celta entities in the Friday events, on Saturday the directives of the Penyes Federations of both teams met to share a fraternal lunch before the match.. In fact, it is usual throughout the year that the Galician FC Barcelona penyes participate in the events of the Celta penyes, and viceversa. This relationship embraces the mentality and values of Aficiones Unidas, an entity to which the Penyes Federations of both clubs belong.
