The headquarters of the Confederació Mundial de Penyes del FC Barcelona recently welcomed again youngsters from the United States who are studying in Barcelona. The reason was a new edition, the 18th, of the talk that the blaugrana entity organizes in collaboration with the Study Abroad Program of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. In total, more than 50 students attended. This conference is part of the “Global Marketing and Culture of FC Barcelona” course, which addresses the keys that have made Barcelona and its supporters’ clubs collective a reference worldwide.
The talk was given by Vicenç Notari, treasurer of the Confederació and president of the Federació de Penyes Barcelonistes del Baix Llobregat. For an hour and a half, the students learned a great part of the history of FC Barcelona, both at a sporting, cultural, social and political level in Catalunya. In this sense, the supporters’ clubs movement, with more than a century of existence, has a special weight and contributes greatly to understanding the well-known denomination “Més que un Club” (More than a Club).
